NASHVILLE — More details surrounding the resignation of Nashville Community High School Superintendent Ernie Fowler have been released. A NCHS Board member confirmed that Fowler will receive a post-retirement bonus of $63,540.
Fowler’s retirement was effective the day he became eligible to retire — his 56th birthday, which was Tuesday, September 26th. His last working day was September 5th. He used vacation days from September 6th thru the 25th. Fowler, who was paid nearly $129,000 a year, will also receive $54,000 for waiving his rights and claims under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act against District 99. The agreement states that the compromise is not an admission of liability or wrongdoing.
District 99 will also pay for health, vision and dental insurance for Fowler and his eligible dependents up to $1,865 per month for four months. The Nashville High School Board of Education is now conducting a search for an interim superintendent.
