(BENTON, IL) — A Christopher man was arrested after Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call at a home in Coello Thursday after the suspect, who had been in a fight with a man who lived there, threatened the man with a gun. Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones says 31-year-old Matthew Greathouse had left the scene prior to deputies arriving. An investigation led to the recovery of a 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition. The sheriff says Greathouse has children with a woman who lives at the home. Greathouse is tentatively charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm while FOID card was previously revoked, battery, and driving while licenses suspended. He is lodged in the Franklin County Jail pending review by the State’s Attorney’s Office and the setting of bond by the court.
