(BENTON, IL) — Criminal charges were filed Thursday by the Franklin County State’s Attorney’s office against a Marion man for meth-related offenses. State’s Attorney Evan Owens says the felony offenses charged against 45-year-old Steven D. Morris are unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methamphetamine manufacturing, aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. Morris also faces a misdemeanor charge of driving while license revoked. Owens says the charges allege that Morris knowingly participated in the production of between 100 and 400 grams of substance containing methamphetamine and also possessed between 100 and 400 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine. The offenses are alleged to have happened Wednesday. The West Frankfort Police Department and the Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team is still investigating this case. Morris is lodged in the Franklin County Jail. His bail has been set at $500,000.
