(BENTON, IL) — A preliminary hearing is set for Friday for a West Frankfort man charged with two counts of aggravated battery. Franklin County State’s Attorney Evan Owens recently filed criminal charges against 24-year-old Richard M. Espinoza. Owens says Count One alleges that Espinoza caused great bodily harm to the victim by stabbing the victim in the leg and arm with a knife. Count Two alleges that Espinoza used a knife, a deadly weapon, in committing battery against the victim. The West Frankfort Police Department continues to investigate this case. Espinoza is lodged in the Franklin County Jail. His bail is set at $200,000.
