(Alton, IL) — A successful Metro East tavern owner known as “Fast Eddie Sholar” is dead. Police say Edward Sholar Sr. was found dead in his Alton home yesterday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He bought the Bon Air tavern in Alton in 1981 and recently turned the bar over to his son Edward Jr. Sholar was 61.
