(JUNCTION CITY, IL) — A Junction City home suffered severe damage from smoke and fire Friday night, with firefighters from Sandoval, Odin and Centralia Fire Protection fighting the blaze for approximately four hours. When firefighters arrived at the home in the 1000 block of Jefferson Avenue just after 5 o’clock Friday night, an addition on the west side of the home was fully involved and smoke was visible from the rest of the structure. No one was home at the time of the fire that spread to two other rooms of the home and caused heavy heat and smoke damage to the rest of the structure. A second ceiling in the home made battling the flames difficult for firefighters, and the state fire marshal has been called to determine the cause of the blaze. The Red Cross has been notified to assist Misti Denton and her family who likely lost everything in the fire.  Salem Fire Protection District stood by at the Odin fire station with an engine.
