(IRN) Dr. Dan Waxman of the Versiti Blood Center said supplies are at dangerously low levels at Versiti’s 85 partner hospitals across the state.

Donors are urged to call Versiti or the Red Cross to find a convenient place to give blood.

All blood types are needed, with a critical need for platelet donors and type O blood.

There are two blood drives this week in our listening area. The first runs from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Woodlawn. Then from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Crossroads Community Hospital conference center at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

From October 1st through the 20th blood donors at Red Cross blood drives will receive a $15 Amazon.com Gift Card by email.
