BENTON — The city of Benton is getting a Delta Regional Authority Grant for $206,000 that will be used to upgrade the city’s water system and increase its capacity to provide services to nearby residents and businesses.

According to a press release from the Delta Regional Authority, this investment is projected to create one new job, retain 24 and impact 30 families who will benefit from improved water and sewer services.

Benton will use the money to replace decades-old water mains on North Main Street starting at Petroff Road and extending north to the IDNR office on Illinois 37.

The total cost of this project is $335,777.
