MARION, IL — A Herrin man pled guilty to conspiracy/insurance fraud, a Class 2 felony, and was sentenced Monday in Williamson County Court to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti says evidence showed that in May of last year, 47-year-old Clinton W. Crabtree drove a U-Haul van into a vehicle belonging to another alleged conspirator for the purpose of making an insurance claim to receive insurance proceeds.

Zanotti added that Crabtree has a criminal history, including prior convictions for burglary and battery. He will have to serve two years of mandatory supervised release following his release from prison.
