(MT. VERNON, IL) — Authorities with the Mt. Vernon Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call Tuesday evening and arrested a Mt. Vernon man at the scene. According to arrest reports, 26 year old Ryan Wilhelm was charged with aggravated domestic battery, interference with a report of domestic violence, aggravated assault, and unlawful restraint. Officers responded to a 911 call made by a female arguing with a male in the background, that was pinged to the 700 block of Harrison. Once authorities arrived in the area, they reportedly heard the dispute coming from the residence at 713 Harrison and from a window vantage point witnessed a female with visible injuries. During an interview, the female alleged that the male, identified as Wilhelm, had struck her causing injury, had damaged her cell phone, and had threatened her life. He was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Justice Center for the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail. The female was transported from the scene by EMS to Crossroads Community Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
