(East St. Louis, IL) — Two grocery store owners from Swansea face seven years in federal prison after being convicted of defrauding the federal food stamp program of nearly one-point-seven-million-dollars. Qais Hussein and Majdi Odeh were convicted of buying food stamp cards and vouchers from people for a fraction of their value, then cashing them in for the full value. Five of their employees at the Garden Grill Market stores in East St. Louis also pleaded guilty to being part of the conspiracy.
