(Alton, IL) — Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons is again leading a team of police, educators and medical experts in a discussion with high school students about the dangers of heroin. Gibbons and his team have been visiting high schools to bring the message about the risk and real threat of heroin in the Metro East. Wednesday, they were at Alton High School where they presented a morning workshop for freshman students and held a second session for sophomores in the afternoon. There were 26 confirmed heroin overdose deaths in Madison County last year. That number has already been surpassed this year with 30 deaths through July.
