(East St. Louis, IL) — A Madison, Illinois woman has been sentenced to two years in prison for health care fraud. Federal prosecutors say Angela Jones falsely billed the Illinois Medicaid program for providing home health services for her boyfriend while she was actually in prison. The court has ordered her to repay more than 13 thousand dollars. Jones’ boyfriend, Lawrence Thigpen pleaded guilty to the same charge last fall. He was sentenced to 15 months behind bars in February as part of a plea deal. The Home Services Program is a Medicaid program designed to allow people to get care at home instead of entering a nursing home.
