(PINCKNEYVILLE, IL) — An overnight fire on the southeast corner of the public square in Pinckneyville has severely damaged the buildings. The Illinois Department of Transportation has set up a traffic diversion in the area while fire operations and clean up continue. Illinois Route 127 Southbound is unaffected. Illinois Route 127 Northbound is being diverted to the west side of the square via the marked detour. This detour follows Illinois Route 127 South Bound making the one way streets now open for two way traffic around the west side of the square. Illinois Route 154 East Bound is being diverted around the west side and north side of the square then east to South Bound Gordon Street where it will rejoin Illinois Route 154. West Bound Illinois Route 154 traffic will follow the two way detour for East Bound traffic. This traffic pattern is expected to last a majority of the day. Motorists should consider alternate routes to avoid the area.
