(BENTON, IL) — State Senator Gary Forby of Benton, State Representative John Bradley of Marion, State Representative Terri Bryant of Murphysboro, State Representative Jerry Costello II of Smithton and Franklin County officials will be holding a press conference this morning to highlight the importance and need for the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center and Methamphetamine Treatment Center. It will start at 10:30 a.m. at the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center on East Washington in Benton. Funding for the center was cut out of the Fiscal Year 2016 Budget by Governor Bruce Rauner, which would close the facility and end the more than 50 jobs at the facility. As a critical part of the juvenile justice system, the Center provides individual, safe and secure care to help youth rehabilitate and support their development. The Methamphetamine Treatment Center is the only facility for youth in the state of Illinois and has the best record of any youth treatment and rehabilitation in the United States. The legislators and county officials will speak more about the importance of the Center, both for its positive impact on the local economy and its benefits for the community and rehabilitation in Southern Illinois.
