(SALEM, IL) — A 49-year-old Centralia man charged was sentenced Tuesday in Marion County court to 3-years in prison after he pleaded guilty but mentally ill in December to an assortment of felonies dating back to the 2012 arson at his mother’s home. Shawn Reichenbach was sentenced on a reduced charge of Class 2 felony arson of property and on a 2014 charge of Class 2 felony aggravated battery of a peace officer, for which he received a concurrent 3-year prison sentence. Reichenbach has been held in the Marion County jail since his May arrest when he kicked Centralia police officers responding to his mother’s home on Chipwood Lane in Centralia. His mother’s home was the same location where in 2012 Reichenbach set a fire, throwing oxygen tanks into the flames and exiting the house using a can of ether and a lighter as a torch that he pointed toward police officers, calling on them to shoot him.
