(CARLYLE, IL) — The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an early New Year’s Day shooting in rural Carlyle. The call came in at 2:11 a.m. Thursday, indicating a man had been shot and was being transported to the hospital. Clinton County Sheriff’s deputies, along with Carlyle police responded to the scene, and a Crime Scene Technician with the Illinois State Police was called in to assist in the investigation. No further details are being released at this time. The report of the Carlyle shooting was made just minutes after another shooting was reported at a tavern in neighboring Centralia.
