(BENTON, IL) — A Franklin County man accused of battering his family and holding them hostage for over 48 hours in October will not stand trial as planned next month. The attorney representing 37-year-old Doyle E. Marion, Jr. recently told Franklin County Judge Tom Tedeschi that she is not done looking over with her client some videos she recently received that are evidence in the case and is still trying to decide whether or not Marion should be examined to see if he is fit to stand trial. Marion also waived his right to a speedy trial during his pre-trial hearing. Marion was arrested by West Frankfort Police on Oct. 20 following the incident. He’s facing several charges including forcible detention, aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery. Marion’s trial date is now set for March 3. Marion is scheduled to appear in court again on Jan. 15 for a pre-trial hearing. He is lodged in the Franklin County Jail on $200,000 bond.
