On December 1, 2014 at 9 a.m. 25 year old John G. McFarland IV was sentenced for Failure to register as a Sex Offender through the Gibson County Circuit Court. On August 7, 2014, Gibson County Central Dispatch Officer Lisa Viton received a report from the Indiana Department Of Corrections that recent parolee John G. McFarland IV was living at 6340 S 225 West in Rural Ft. Branch and should have came in to register as a sex offender. Sergeant Bruce L. Vanoven was dispatched to the residence to do a sex offender registry check, and upon speaking to Mr. McFarland it was learned that he was released on July28,2014 and had failed to register with the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office within the state mandated seven day period. Mr. McFarland was taken into custody on August 7thand remained in the Gibson County Jail till his conviction date. Mr. McFarland was given time served plus an additional 12 months for the crime of Failure To Register. However, Mr. McFarland has not been released due to a Department Of Corrections Parole hold.
