The Mt. Carmel Police Department conducted a tobacco compliance check last Friday. A total of 12 businesses were checked to make sure store employees were asking for identification when selling tobacco products. Out of the 12 businesses, only one sold to the 15 year old juvenile. Wagon Wheel employee Randy K. Liddle was cited for selling cigarettes to the decoy. Liddle was given a citation and given a mandatory court date. The Mt. Carmel Police Department recently received a State of Illinois grant to conduct tobacco compliance checks. MCPD will conduct two more compliance checks in the next few months.
