(Belleville, IL) — St. Clair County Chief Judge Andrew Gleeson is removing a colleague from the bench so that a murder investigation won’t be compromised. Judge Gleeson assigned Circuit Judge Ron Duebbert to administrative duties because Duebbert’s former housemate, 20-year-old David Fields, is a person of interest in a murder investigation. Duebbert allowed Fields to live with him for a time last year after Fields was placed on parole after serving time for rape. Fields is being questioned in the Friday shooting death of 28-year-old Carl Silas and is being held on a parole violation.
