(Cahokia, IL) — Police are identifying a man shot and killed by a cop in Cahokia as 35-year-old Jason Stringer. Police say an off-duty Washington Park officer called Cahokia police about a man wanted by authorities who was seen going into a Walmart store last evening. When officers arrived, Stringer got into his car and began driving erratically and then drove toward the off-duty cop who fired several shots. Two Cahokia officers were injured, but their conditions have not been released. Stringer died at a hospital. Illinois State Police are investigating the shooting and asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
