(BENTON, IL) — A jury trial is set to begin Feb. 7 for a Benton man arrested earlier this month on meth-related charges. Fifty-two-year-old Steven S. Blackman recently appeared in Franklin County Court and pled not guilty to charges against him which include aggravated meth manufacturing, possessing more than 900 grams of meth, meth-related child endangerment and possession of meth manufacturing materials. That’s according to the Benton Evening News. Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies went to Blackman’s home on South 1st Street Nov. 1 after getting a report about a meth lab possibly being there. Deputies executed a search warrant at the home and found a large amount of meth, meth making material and meth trash. Blackman was arrested shortly thereafter and taken to the Franklin County Jail. He will have a bond hearing on Jan. 11.
