(Belleville, IL) — The St. Clair County Health Department and the Illinois Department of Public Health are investigating an outbreak of salmonella in those who attended the Belleville Chili Cookoff. The cookoff was held on October 8th. Symptoms of salmonella include fever, chills, abdominal pain and severe stomach upset. The health departments are asking anyone who attended the event and are either currently sick or became sick after October 8th to contact their doctor and the St. Clair County Health Department.
