(St. Charles, MO) — Thousands of union cashiers and baggers at Schnucks grocery stores across Missouri won’t be walking off the job. Members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 655 overwhelmingly voted to accept a new contract and avoid a strike. The union wanted pay raises and few benefit cuts. UFC President David Cook says workers didn’t get everything they wanted. The union represents about 4,000 employees who work at 52 Schnucks stores in the St. Louis area. Overall, the company has 99 stores in five states.
