(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon City Council met Monday evening. Among items on the agenda, the Council requested and was granted permission to seek bids for janitorial services and for financing the city portion of the early retirement incentive cost. They heard the results of quotes for banking services, approving a three year agreement with Peoples National Bank. The city manager presented the fiscal year 2015-2016 audit report for approval. The city attorney gave a second reading of an ordinance amendment revising code establishing rules for public participation, which was approved with a five minute limit for input from any member of the public that wishes to address the council. Also discussed was a resolution approving a proposal with Poettker Construction for construction management of the Armory project, which was tabled at this time, and a resolution authorizing the mayor to act as an authorized representative to the Economic Development Administration for matters related to the EDA grant for local industrial expansion, which was approved.
