(BENTON, IL) — The Benton Police Department will partner with the Drug Enforcement Agency for National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police department on West Main. The event is designed to help prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Police will not accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills and patches. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Benton Police will also continue this program beyond Oct. 22 Monday thru Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Simply bring your medication to the police department and drop it off.
