Effingham, IL – Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, Tuesday announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of September.  Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland Counties, answered 187 calls for service and initiated 2,078 incidents in the field.   In addition, enforcement figures totaled 941 citations and 943 written warnings, including 471 speeding citations, 9 DUIs, 175 seat belt citations, 7 child restraint citations, 333 written warnings for speeding, and 28 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 225 motorists, conducted 411 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 61 traffic crashes.  There were 6 fatal traffic crashes investigated by District 12 in September. During the month, 458 citations and 397 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Distracted Driving.
