Edith Christine Nance, age 73, of Kell, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Edith was born on September 21, 1952, in Carbondale, Illinois, to John and Josie (Stearns) Jerdon. On September 25, 1970, she married Clifton Wayne Nance in Cobden, Illinois, and together they shared many years of marriage, family, and cherished memories. Edith dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse in the healthcare field before retiring. She was known for her loving and compassionate spirit, her servant’s heart, and her devotion to her family and faith. She enjoyed cooking and baking for those she loved, had a deep love for horses, and faithfully served on mission trips and disaster relief efforts through the years. She is survived by her husband, Clifton Wayne Nance of Kell; two children, Clifton Heath Nance of Oregon and Kelly Jo Piech and husband Ron of Kell; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, with twins on the way; two sisters; and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Josie Jerdon. A graveside service for Edith Christine Nance will be held at Alto Pass Cemetery in Alto Pass, Illinois on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangement.
