Sheryl Jean Baity, born May 24, 1951, to Don and Charlene Hellmeyer, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Heritage Woods in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Sheryl was a caring, dedicated, and selfless woman who had a 35-year career as a nursing assistant at Twin Willows Nursing Home and Salem Township Hospital.

On October 17, 1974, she married Danny Baity, who preceded her in death on November 11, 2002.

Her greatest joys in life were her children: Tina (Hellmeyer) Cameron and husband Tony, Donnie Biermann and partner Dee Rowcliff, and Joyce (Baity) Spilker and husband Joshua. She was also blessed with many grandchildren: Whitney Markham, Ryan Murray, Sally Albers, Ashley Hill, Christina Draper, Chance Biermann, Brandon Biermann, Lisa Marie Biermann, and Ashanti Biermann. Her grandson, Travis Biermann, preceded her in death. Sheryl is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.

Sheryl enjoyed watching her hummingbirds during the summertime. She was also a fan of WWE wrestling and enjoyed going to bingo in her recent years.

Per Sheryl’s request, she will be cremated with no services. As a memorial to her, she would want you to be kind to others, do the funky chicken once in a while, and stay strong.
