Norma Lee (Melton) Sledge, 79, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at her home.  Norma was born on December 31, 1946 in Wayne City to Kenneth & Gladys (Hawkins) Melton.  On February 20, 1965 she married Kenny Sledge who preceded her in death on August 6, 2022.

Norma was a member of the First Christian Church in Wayne City.  She enjoyed crafting, shopping, collecting antiques, and decorating.  She also enjoyed painting, and watching shows on HGTV.  She loved spending time with her grandkids, and she was known for making her famous pancakes for them.

Norma is survived by her daughter Tammy (Ryan) Sledge of Bluford, IL; 2 sons: Jeff (Rachel) Sledge of Wayne City and Monty (Shelley) Sledge of Mt. Vernon, IL; 8 grandchildren: Olivia Barbee, Victoria Sledge, Kyle Sledge, Kennedy Sledge, Gracen Sledge, Walker Sledge, Radley Eilerts, and Mazie Eilerts; 1 great-grandchild Kingston Thomas; her sister Judy (Gary) Bailey; and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth & Gladys Melton, her husband Kenny Sledge, her sister Nila Veatch, 2 brothers: Bill Melton and Don Melton, and her niece Susan Melton.

Funeral services for Norma Lee (Melton) Sledge will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL with Pastor Steve Griswold officiating.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
