
Jean E. Muscolino, 64, of Mt Vernon, Illinois passed away peacefully at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, on Friday, January 23, 2026. Jean was born on September 12, 1961 to William “Bill” and Nellie (Tinsley) Mellott. Jeanie married John Muscolino on May 9, 2009 in Arizona and he survives.
In addition to her beloved husband, Jeanie is survived by her mom, Nellie Mellott; sons, Jason Mellott and wife, Melissa and Josh McKinney and wife, Mindy; daughter, Stella Muscolino; grandchildren, Alli and Tucker Mellott, Jestine Dozier, Rylie Hatton, and Ivy McKinney; brothers, Billy Mellott and wife, Donna, David Mellott and wife, Sonja, and Jim Mellott and wife, Jan; three aunts and two uncles; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her father, Bill Mellott; and parents-in-law, Stella and Santo Muscolino.
Jeanie was a devoted wife, mother, grammy, and aunt. To know her was to love her. Her faith in God was of upmost importance to her. She was saved and baptized into New Hope Webb Baptist Church. Everything she did was centered around her grandchildren. Shopping for them was one of her favorite pastimes. She had a knack for interior design and an amazing eye for colors. She loved redecorating and making things beautiful. Her hands were a true gift to all who had the pleasure of enjoying her decorative styles.
Jeanie loved people! You never heard her say a bad thing about anyone because she saw the good in everyone. Self-care was very important to her. She took great pride in caring for her skin, hair, hands and feet. Jeanie also loved the Lord and listening to Christian music. She brought her family together and was an extraordinary woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew her!
A Visitation will be held Monday, February 2, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Jeanie’s honor to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
