(Madison County, IL) — An Illinois man is in jail after he was accused of swinging a knife at a Metro East police chief. William Woods is charged with aggravated assault of a police officer. While he was being escorted away from a fight, he swung a knife backward toward Marine, Illinois Police Chief Chris Singleton. The top cop was not injured. Woods bail is set at 50-thousand-dollars and his next court date is set for July 17th.
