ODIN — Richard L. Bowlby, Jr., 54, of Odin, passed away on April 3, 2023, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.

He was born October 17, 1968, in Centralia, the son of Richard Bowlby, Sr. and Laverne Joyce (Mercer) Bowlby.

Richard is survived by his fiancee Ruthann Talbert of Odin; a son: Blake Zboralski of Washington; two stepsons, Sean Gaul and Eric Gaul both of Odin; a brother: John Bowlby of Missouri; a sister: Nancy Bowlby of Centralia; several nieces and nephews: Corey Bowlby, Kylee Howard, Timothy Bowlby, Bradley Bowlby, and Brittani Bowlby; and his four-legged companion: “Puppy”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a sister: Mary Howard, and a brother: Tracy Dale Bowlby.

Richard enjoyed being outdoors, doing yard work, and mowing. He spent a lot of his time working in his shed. Richard loved his son, fiance, and his “Puppy”.
Per Richard’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Bowlby family.
