Dorothy J. (Novak) Karczewski, 79, of Waltonville, Illinois, formerly of Crete, Illinois passed away at her residence at 2:27 pm February, 8, 2022.

She was born in Hazelcrest, Illinois to the late Casimir and Cecile (Peterson) Novak. Dorothy married William Karczewski Sr. on September 10, 1960 in Hazelcrest, Illinois.In addition to her beloved husband of sixty-one years, Dorothy is survived by her children, William Karczewski and wife, Joan of Grant Park, Illinois, Dan Karczewski and wife, Joy of LaBelle, Missouri, Therese First of Bonnie, Illinois, Loretta “Lori” Janca and husband, Tom of Bourbonnais, Illinois; sister, Christine McIntire of Utah; grandchildren, Mindy, Willy, Kristy, Abby, Michele, Brian, Aaron, Evan, Erik, Zachary, Branden, and Jared; great-grandchildren, Vera, Ford, Josephine, Sophia, and Sienna; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; dearest friends, Carol and Bev; and her loving cat, Sadie.In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Christopher; brothers, Ronald and Casey; sister, Cecile (Bunny); son-in-law, Kent; and dear friend, Pat.Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and her cat, Sadie. She loved reading and enjoyed fishing. Dorothy was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Matt Richardt officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Chicagoland Area at a later date.
