Carmi, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) District 19 announced the results of a Nighttime Enforcement Patrol (NITE) held during the late evening hours of Friday, 06/17/16, and early morning hours of Saturday, 06/18/16. The patrol was conducted in White and Hamilton Counties by ISP District 19 officers. Alcohol is involved in over 40 percent of fatal crashes in Illinois. NITE patrols are designed to keep our roads safe by removing alcohol-impaired drivers. However, when other violations are observed, such as driving with a suspended or revoked license, operating a vehicle without a valid registration or insurance, or safety belt violations, enforcement action may be taken. Authorities issued 23 total citations or arrests and 22 total written warnings during this patrol, including 7 registration offenses, 3 driver’s license offenses, and an occupant restraint offense. There were no DUI or other alcohol or drug arrests during this patrol. This project was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Transportation Safety.
