(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon City Council met Monday evening at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building.  Among items on the agenda, the council heard and approved a low bid for the North 27th Street project from Baxmeyer Construction of $1.5 million, the City Manager made a request for final reallocation of funds for the 2015-2016 budget and made a request for proposals for an industrial park conservation area tax increment fund note, both of which were approved. The council approved multiple property rezoning ordinances, an ordinance approving a tax increment finance redevelopment agreement between the city of Mt. Vernon and Barry and Kimmy Dent, and resolutions approving a collective bargaining agreement between the city of Mt. Vernon and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the city and Laborer’s International Union of North America, the Southern & Central, Illinois District Council, and Laborer’s Local #1197 and the Teamster’s Automotive, Petroleum, and Allied Trades, Local #50.  A first reading of a prevailing wage rate ordinance was given. Finally, the Council approved appointment Kenneth Meyers to the Police and Fire Commission.
