(MT. VERNON, IL) — Another Super Tuesday is in the books as Jefferson County voters took to the polls yesterday.  In unofficial results locally, voters gave Bernie Sanders the edge over Hilary Clinton in the Democratic Presidential primary, while on the Republican side, voters decisively selected Donald Trump.  For U.S. Senate, local winners were Democrat Tammy Duckworth and Republican Mark Kirk, both in overwhelming fashion.  In the Republican State Senator race, Paul Schimpf defeated Sharee Langenstein.  The Republican primary for Jefferson County Coroner went to Roger Hayse over Dr. Bradley Drake.  Joey McDermott won the county board seat in District 3 over Tommy Hayes and Robert Knutson and Adam Ortgiesen unseated Robert White for the seat in District 9.  In Dodds District 2, Walter Nadolski edged Stephen Modert for the Precinct Committeeman seat. Among the questions on the ballot, voters by over a 3 to 1 margin voted “no” to the school facility sales tax increase.  Voters also voted “no” to the Rend Lake Conservancy District Advisory question.  Voters in Grand Prairie School District voted “yes” for a limiting rate increase.
