(VANDALIA, IL) — Bail has been set at $750,000 for a 51-year-old Farina man charged in Fayette County Court with predatory sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13. According to Fayette County State’s Attorney Joshua Morrison, Larry L. Sapp has been formally charged with three counts Class X felony predatory sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13. Morrison says his office and law enforcement worked quickly after receiving the complaint. A warrant was issued Friday for Sapp’s arrest following an Illinois State Police investigation into the allegations and Vandalia police took him into custody Friday night. Sapp was arraigned on the charges Monday morning and was tentatively appointed a public defender to represent him pending the results of a financial discovery. Sapp is an over-the-road truck driver, but Morrison says the three separate charges are for three separate incidents involving one alleged victim. Few details in the case are being released to avoid potentially identifying the alleged victim.
