D’Ella M. Scott, 79, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:00 am March 10, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones at her residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born July 29, 1941 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late James Cassell and Flora D’Ella (Harlow) Rogers. D’Ella married Jim M. Scott on December 31, 1983 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with thirty years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 1, 2014.
D’Ella is survived by her children, Tonya Stewart and wife, Tonya of Bonnie, Illinois, Troy Stewart and wife, Bridget of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Kevin Stewart and wife, Irene of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Steven Wayne Scott and wife, Andrea of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Jennifer Scott and spouse, Billy McGrady of Bonnie, Illinois, Mary E. Scott and spouse, Roger Hopkins; stepchildren, Karon, Donna, Nancy, Jeanie, Rickey; seventy-four grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Cassell Rogers and wife, Judy of Valier, Illinois, Michael Rogers of Centralia, Illinois; sisters, Jean Shelton and husband, George of Opdyke, Illinois, Dorothy Oliver of Phoenix, Arizona; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, D’Ella was preceded in death by her step son, Jimmy Scott, Jr.; grandchildren, Cassell Ray Stewart, Billy James Stewart, Calvin Lee Stewart; brothers, Jimmy Rogers, Richard Rogers; sister, Judy Kirkland; and niece, D’Ella Jo Ratley.
Mrs. Scott was the owner and operator of Mom’s Cafe and helped her husband, Jim with various businesses. D’Ella made sure all of her children went to church and she was a Christian. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 15, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Bethel Memorial Cemetery Mount Vernon, Illinois with Brother Brad Ryan officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in D’Ella’s honor to Alzheimer’s Association.
