Mary R. Diel, 78, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020, at her home.

She was born April 10, 1942, in Centralia, the daughter of Charles H. and Vada F. (Hails) Huston.  On September 5, 1959, at Fouts Christian Church, she married Carrel R. Diel, and he survives.

Mrs. Diel was a graduate of Woodlawn High School, and worked as a Public Aid Case Worker for the State of Illinois, and as a Receptionist at Bill’s Tax Service.  She was a member of Fouts Christian Church, and was a lifelong Sunday School Teacher.  She enjoyed walking with friends, traveling, gardening, reading, cooking, singing in the church choir, and holding her grandbabies.

In addition to her husband, Carrel Diel of Centralia, she is survived by two children, Debbie Sanders and husband H. Robert of Maryville, Illinois, and Brian Diel and wife Melissa of St. Peters, Missouri;  grandchildren, Kara Cincotta and husband Timothy of Edwardsville, Illinois, Lucas Sanders and husband Gerard of Washington, DC, Drew Sanders of New York City, Shayne Sanders of Caseyville, Illinois, Joshua Diel and wife Krystal of St. Peters, Missouri, Courtney Diel of Belton, Texas, Steven Diel and wife Claudia of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Zachary Diel and wife Kayla of Wentzville, Missouri;  great grandchildren Mason Sanders, Quinn Diel, Wren Diel, and Sawyer Diel;  and brother, Steve Huston and wife Kathleen of Spring, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Vada Huston.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Diel will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Fouts Christian Church, with Jerry Wilson and John Klockenga officiating.  Burial will follow at Fouts Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.  Attendees are asked to wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines.  Memorial gifts may be made to Fouts Christian Church, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
