A 34-year-old Centralia man has been charged in Marion County Court with possessing between 100 and 300 grams of a meth precursor.

Centralia police stopped Anthony Pierce Wednesday for allegedly driving while license revoked or suspended. Officers became suspicious of a lunch cooler on the seat next to Pierce.

He reportedly told officers it was not an active lab. When they opened the cooler they reportedly found multiple items used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Pierce was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail where he awaits the setting of bail. A formal charge of Class X felony possession of between 100 and 300 grams of a meth precursor filed Thursday.

Pierce was sentenced in 2009 and 2010 in Jefferson County to 2-years each on convictions for possession of meth, then in 2012 in Marion County he was sentenced to 4-years in prison for a meth possession conviction.
