A 30-year-old Vandalia man is free on bond after he was arrested on a warrant charging him with threatening a public official on social media.

Tad A. Keeling is charged with Class 3 felony threatening a public official for a video he allegedly posted on Facebook that prosecutors say threatened to burn down the homes of Vandalia police officers and that Keeling has hostility toward the police officers.

Bail for Keeling had been set at $40,000. He posted 10% cash bond and was released from the Fayette County Jail. He’s next scheduled to appear November 7, for a first appearance with his court appointed attorney.
