Centralia police arrested two men over the weekend for allegedly cashing fake payroll checks at a local tavern.
The two men, 24-year-old Denzel McChristian, and 25-year-old Shaundre Pickett, were considered persons of interest in an investigation into checks cashed at the Block Tavern last week.
According to the CPD investigation, two checks written for $697 and $702 dollars created as being written by a Mt. Vernon fast food restaurant were cashed at the Centralia tavern but were written on a non-existent account.
Pickett and McChristian were questioned about the checks Saturday and were then transported to the Marion County Jail where they remained Sunday night.
