(MARION COUNTY, IL) — Authorities have released the identity of the 35-year-old man who is the subject of a manhunt after he allegedly broke into an occupied home Sunday near Cartter. Jason White is described as a white male, 5-feet 7-inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds, bald, with a red beard. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray shirt and carrying a backpack with unknown contents as he left the Cartter residence. It’s believed White entered a home on Adams Road where he allegedly attempted to take guns and knives. The homeowners, who were present at the time, reported that White was acting strangely but they were able to take the guns and knives away from him. White then reportedly went outside with the male homeowner before fleeing the scene on foot. While the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says it’s unclear if White is still on foot in the Cartter/Kell area, residents in the southern portion of Marion County should keep the doors to their homes and vehicles locked. Shortly after the alleged burglary to the home on Adams Road, the suspect was seen at Biggie’s Cafe where he reportedly used the phone before again leaving on foot. The sheriff’s office says White is a convicted sex offender and is also wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for driving under the influence, aggravated assault, and being a felon in possession of a weapon. If you have information regarding the whereabouts of Jason White you’re urged to contact the sheriff’s office at 548-2141, or Marion County Crimestoppers at 800-499-UTEL (8835). A reward is available.
