Thomas A. Barr, 73, of Odin, died Tuesday Evening, February 14, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. He was born September 1, 1943, in Dix, Illinois, the son of Russell F. and Jewel (Dare) Barr. On February 3, 1966, at Hoots Chapel Church, he married Mary K. Jones, and she survives. He was the owner of Tom’s Service Station in Odin for 23 years, and served as Carrigan Township Road Commissioner and Clerk for many years. In addition to his wife, Mary Barr, he is survived by three daughters, Jeanie Barr Evans husband Evan, Sammie Neumeister and husband Brian, and Beth Milich and husband Pete; two grandsons, Trevor Eric Neumeister and Peter Alexander Milich; one granddaughter, Brianna Nicole Milich; one brother, Russell “Bud” Barr; one sister, Betty Barr Mead; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Mr. Barr will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Jeff Van Meter officiating. Burial will follow at Boyd Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, February 17, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
