(MT. VERNON, IL) — Two area men have been arrested in a joint investigation of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Mt. Vernon Police Department. On Wednesday, February 8, 2017, Detectives and Deputies from JCSO, along with the assistance of Detectives from the MVPD, executed a search warrant at a residence on Tea Rose Road in Texico, in regards to a burglary investigation. At the conclusion of the search warrant, 37 year old Jack Heinrich of Texico and 43 year old Benjamin Pigg of Mt. Vernon, were taken into custody. During the execution of the search warrant, Detectives were able to locate several items that were reported as stolen along with illegal drugs. The stolen items were recovered and later returned to their rightful owner. Heinrich was charged with burglary, possession of stolen firearms, theft over $500, possession of methamphetamine and theft $500 and under. Pigg was charged with burglary, possession of stolen firearms and theft over $500. Heinrich has been released on bond and Pigg currently being held for another agency. Heinrich and Pigg are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
