(MT. VERNON, IL) — Officers with the Mt. Vernon Police Department were called to the 2300 block of Cherry at approximately 5 a.m. Saturday morning on a report of a suspicious man. It was there that they arrested 53 year old Reagan Russell Jr. of Mt. Vernon on a Jefferson County warrant for felony forgery and a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear on counts of forgery and felony driving under the influence. During a search of Russell during the arrest, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, two hypodermic needles, and other drug paraphernalia. Russell was transported to the Jefferson County Justice Center where he is being held pending bond and the setting of his first court appearance.
