(CENTRAL CITY, IL) — A Friday fire resulted in the arrest of a 63-year-old Central City man for alleged possession of stolen property. According to police, Jim Gordon was arrested for the charge on his vehicle due to a registration sticker that had been reported stolen in June from Sandoval. Centralia Fire Protection responded to Gordon’s home in the 1400 block of Patterson Friday after a wood burning stove in a detached garage apparently became overheated and caused an exterior wall and wood stacked next to the wall to catch fire. Central City police were called to the home when Gordon reportedly became argumentative with a firefighter on the scene. While there police determined the registration sticker on Gordon’s vehicle had been reported stolen. Gordon was taken into custody for alleged possession of stolen property. He was released after posting $150 cash bond.
