(MT. VERNON, IL) — A few more details have been released on the Friday night shooting in Mt. Vernon that left one dead. A 26 year old male was killed in the shooting in the 800 block of 19th Street near Conger Avenue. He was discovered by Mt. Vernon Police and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies. The male was transported to Crossroads Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Additional officers and detectives from the Mt. Vernon Police Department, Illinois State Police, Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, and the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Office responded to assist with the investigation. According to reports, multiple calls of shots fired were taken around 5:45 p.m. Friday. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mt.
